Absolutely not! While we love hosting our Silent Seas Shared Horizons group vacations, you’re never required to join one. Tammy can help you plan any cruise, all-inclusive resort, escorted tour, or custom vacation that fits your interests and travel style.
If you do choose one of our hosted group vacations, you’ll enjoy additional benefits such as exclusive group gatherings, opportunities to connect with fellow Deaf and hard of hearing travelers, interpreters during hosted group activities, and the support of traveling with a welcoming community.
Most importantly, it’s still your vacation. You’re free to participate in as much or as little of the group’s activities as you’d like. Join us for hosted events, explore ports with new friends, or spend the day relaxing on your own—it’s entirely up to you.

Do you charge planning fees?
Never! At Silent Seas Travel, we believe expert vacation planning should be part of the experience—not an additional expense. Our personalized planning services, guidance, and support are always provided at no additional agency planning fee.
When you join one of our hosted group vacations, you’ll also receive exclusive Silent Seas Travel gifts, which may include items such as a custom event shirt, thermal travel mug, tote bag, and other surprises—all included at no additional cost.

How do we communicate?
Communication is at the heart of everything we do. Tammy, our Deaf & Hard of Hearing Vacation Specialist, communicates using American Sign Language (ASL) and understands firsthand the importance of clear, comfortable communication throughout the vacation planning process.
Joe and Megan communicate using signed english, providing additional support to help ensure every traveler feels welcomed, understood, and comfortable throughout the planning process.

Do you help with resorts and escorted tours?
Absolutely! While cruises are our specialty, we’re also happy to help you plan all-inclusive resort vacations and escorted tours around the world.
Because accessibility services vary by destination, interpreter availability for land-based vacations may be more limited than on cruises. Unlike the United States, many countries do not have accessibility requirements similar to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), so interpreter services and accommodations can differ from one destination to another.
For cruises that begin and end in the United States, cruise lines are generally required to provide reasonable accommodations for guests with disabilities, which may include qualified sign language interpreters when requested in advance or other appropriate communication accommodations, depending on the circumstances.
No matter where you choose to travel, we’ll work closely with you to understand your communication preferences, explain what accommodations may be available, and help you select the vacation that’s the best fit for your needs.
